Since starting my photography apprenticeship at Photogenika on September 1st, 2012, I've been fully committed. What have I learned and experienced throughout the year? It all began with passport photos. Soon after, I was also taking professional headshots for job applications, and now I'm working on taking portrait photos and... portrait photography I enjoy practicing, which is a lot of fun. I practice independently with women and men from my circle of friends. Assisting with numerous portrait photoshoots has allowed me to learn a few things. I experiment a lot and become more confident and daring with each practice session. I've assisted at many photoshoots and on-location events, such as corporate portraits, kindergartens, and weddings, and have learned a great deal about lighting techniques and posing. Just a few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to shoot some maternity photos. Initially, I was a little nervous, as maternity photos are definitely more demanding than headshots! But thanks to the many boudoir, lingerie, and maternity shoots I've assisted on, I quickly learned how to best set up the lighting and how to position the expectant mother. After taking the first few photos, I became more experimental, resulting in many wonderful images. I'm already looking forward to shooting maternity photos with clients soon. All in all, this year has been absolutely fantastic for me! I've learned a lot about lighting techniques, posing, portrait photography, and also how to interact with clients, and I've had a lot of fun doing it.
