Sonja: For a number of years, we at Photogenika have been allowed to do event photography for the renowned Fashion hairdresser Pohl take photos in Munich. He offers hair extensions and hair thickening with real hair extensions for everyone in his private hair lounge.
At our last Event Photography order we had a special guest in front of the lens: the likeable, half-Korean ProSieben Taff presenter Nela Lee. In terms of hairstyle, she wanted a complete makeover: namely from her naturally dark hair to a radiant honey-blond hair. In addition, some real hair extensions in the same shade from the Hairdreams company were to be worked into her natural hair so that the bob became more of a hairstyle that reached just over the shoulders.
Cati Hucke, the expert in hair extensions, 2 make-up artists from the Pro Sieben team, as well as a camera team and I as the event photographer from Photogenika were there because the whole thing was to be documented for ProSieben (to be seen at: http://www.prosieben.de/tv/taff/video/201414-nela-goes-blond-clip).
My job as an event photographer was to capture the workflow from the moment the extensions were attached and incorporated into the hairstyle. The event photographer should pay special attention to the products used and new working methods, as well as create a before and after picture of Nela.
as event photographer I had an exciting day in a pleasant working environment, during which I was fascinated to see how artificial it can look if you let a professional do it, how incredibly long and complex such a styling procedure can be (a good 7 hours to be exact , filled with coloring, toning, washing, cutting, working in extensions, etc.) and how adorable and utterly blown away by the result the bubbly Taff presenter was at the end of the day.
