#2: Feel comfortable in your outfit!

"I beg your pardon? Do you feel comfortable in your outfit for application photos?”

Yes, you can feel good! It is even the "non plus ultra". Because how you feel is also your charisma.
This blog post is about – as you might have guessed – finding the right outfit for you application shooting.

Your closet is full of different styles, colors, winter clothes, summer clothes, short, long, etc... Now you are spoiled for choice: what to wear? What's up? What don't I look dressed up in? To make your decision easier, here are a few tips and tricks.

I always like to ask my customers the question: “What would you wear in everyday life or what do you wear in everyday life? and What would you wear to your interview?” Let's take another example to show you what is important. A customer comes to my studio and works as a retail clerk in a fashion store. The fashion store is very posh and sells high-priced goods. Accordingly, she also dresses elegantly in her everyday work. Your new job is in the same league. But what should the client wear in her photo shoot for the application?

The following questions can help you and the customer from the example to solve the problem:

  • What do you wear for business everyday?
  • What would you wear to an interview?
  • How do you feel comfortable as an applicant?
  • What's your favorite outfit?
  • What is your favorite color in your clothes?

Apart from the questions, there are a few tips on which items of clothing do not necessarily look so good in a photo professional application photos assert. On the one hand there would be overly patterned tops such as a crowfoot pattern
a jacket or lots of little flowers on a blouse. Because too many patterns distract too much from the face, your charisma and the application photo - and hopefully that's not your goal for photography 🙂

Bright colors are always cool and make for an exciting photo that will certainly look individual, but keep this in mind You play the leading role in the picture. Maybe the bright color will help you with a calmer shade of a scarf or a jacket
compensate.

Plunging necklines and no shoulder-covered tops give the image a slight push toward the portrait. Depending on your career, that might be a good fit. If your absolute favorite piece is cut like this, be sure to take it with you to the shoot and we'll see if and how we can integrate it. Our recommendation is to take more with you to the shoot. Because we can only tell from the photo whether it harmonizes really coolly with the light and the background or whether we have to change your clothes again.

And my personal tip comes at the end: "Take apart" your wardrobe and be honest with yourself when it comes to the question: What do you feel comfortable with? Be sure to try the outfit on again before the photo shoot for your application photo and look at yourself in the mirror. If you like it, you have definitely chosen the perfect outfit for you. If you don't like it or if you're unsure, definitely take various parts with you that can come into question.

We will help you to find your feel-good outfit for your application photo.
